SCOPE EuropeEU Cloud CoCNews

On October 3rd, SCOPE Europe participated in the Legal Grounds Institute’s webinar on "Best Practices and Governance Rules in Privacy Under the LGPD." Organized in collaboration with Brazil’s Attorney General’s Innovation Lab (AGU), the event gathered key stakeholders to discuss regulatory instruments under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

The event featured several panels and speakers, including Gabriela Mercuri (SCOPE Europe), Miriam Wimmer (Director of Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority, ANPD), Dr. jur. Ricardo Campos (Goethe Universität/Legal Grounds), Fabiano Menke (UFRGS), and Fabio Veras (CNPD/SindInfor), with moderation by Tatiana Meinhart Hahn (Procuradora Federal/AGU). The discussion covered the general challenges of data protection under the LGPD, with Gabriela sharing SCOPE Europe's experiences as a monitoring body for a compliance tool under the GDPR and the lessons learned from co-regulation practices in the European cloud sector.

Taking part at such discussions highlights the importance of international cooperation between key stakeholders in the context of the development of co-regulatory initiatives. By sharing insights and experiences, coordinated efforts can help bridge regulatory gaps and strengthen data protection standards globally. SCOPE Europe welcomes international collaboration and knowledge-sharing opportunities to further enhance data protection and trust across borders.
