SRIW Selected to Contribute to the AI Office's General Purpose AI (GPAI) Code of Practice Drafting Process

AISRIWNews

Earlier this year, the European AI Office published a call for expressions of interest, inviting organisations to participate in shaping the Code of Practice. The call closed on Sunday, 25 August 2024, and we are thrilled to have been selected from a competitive pool of applicants.

The upcoming Code of Practice will detail the AI Act rules for providers of GPAI models with and without systemic risks. It is designed to interpret and clarify the rules for GPAI models set forth in the AI Act, ensuring that AI providers have clear, actionable guidance. At SRIW, we are dedicated to contributing our expertise to ensure that this new Code balances the need for robust AI governance with the flexibility required to foster technological growth. We will work closely with other key stakeholders to align this Code of Practice with existing regulations while simplifying compliance efforts for AI providers.

Our involvement reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring that regulatory frameworks remain practical, forward-looking, and supportive of both compliance and innovation.

The first plenary discussions will commence Monday the 30th of September, marking the beginning of an exciting process. The AI Office envisions the completion of the first Code of Practice by April 2025.
