PRESS RELEASE: SCOPE Europe becomes the accredited monitoring body for a Dutch national code of conduct

SCOPE EuropeNewsPress Release

We are thrilled to announce that SCOPE Europe is now accredited by the Dutch Data Protection Authority as the monitoring body of the Data Pro Code. On this occasion, SCOPE Europe celebrates its success in obtaining its second accreditation and looks forward to continuing its work on fostering trust in the digital economy.

When we were approached by NLdigital, the creators of the Data Pro Code, we knew that taking on the monitoring of a national code of conduct would be an exciting endeavor. As the first-ever accredited monitoring body for a transnational GDPR code of conduct, SCOPE Europe has built unique expertise in the field and are proud, to further apply in the context of another co-regulatory initiative.

The Code puts forward an accessible compliance framework for companies of all sizes, including micro, small and medium enterprises in the Netherlands. With the approval and now the accreditation of its monitoring body, the Data Pro Code will enable data processors to demonstrate GDPR compliance and boost transparency within the digital industry.

We are very happy with this next step for our Data Pro code of conduct,” says Lotte the Bruijn, managing director of NLdigital. “As a representative of the digital industry, we feel a responsibility to help companies with their GDPR compliance. Moreover, we believe in the power of a code of conduct to promote trust and transparency in the market.”

Gabriela Mercuri, Managing Director of SCOPE Europe, added:

Receiving the second accreditation as a monitoring body marks a major milestone for SCOPE Europe. The Data Pro Code is another key initiative demonstrating the industry's commitment to upholding high data protection standards. In this context, we’re beyond proud to be a part of the crucial endeavor of protecting European data subjects.”
