SCOPE EuropeEU Cloud CoCNews

Brussels, 28 August 2024 – Successfully concluding their first adherence process, PingCAP’s services are now listed under the EU Cloud CoC’s Public Register. This achievement showcases the company’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the implementation of robust privacy standards.

In the wake of GDPR’s anniversary, the EU Cloud CoC General Assembly is thrilled to announce another new adherence to the Code. This adherence attests to the effectiveness and broad dissemination of this unique tool throughout the entire cloud environment (XaaS).

With a comprehensive approach endorsed by European data protection authorities, the Code allows cloud providers across all cloud service layers to demonstrate their compliance pursuant to Article 40 GDPR. When declaring services adherent to the EU Cloud CoC, providers showcase the adoption of stringent technical and organizational measures to safeguard personal data.

These efforts are crucial to enhance harmonization within the cloud industry and largely support cloud users in their risk assessment exercises, enabling customers to confidently onboard cloud technologies and fully leverage their multiple benefits.

Against this background, by successfully achieving this milestone, PingCAP demonstrates the prioritization of robust data protection practices and the commitment to foster customer trust by providing secure and reliable services.

Reacting to the adherence, Ed Huang, Co-Founder and CTO at PingCAP, stated:

"PingCAP joined the EU Cloud CoC General Assembly last year to better protect personal data and actively contribute to the building of trust in the cloud. Now that we've completed our first adherence process, we're committed to meet a higher standard that allows our customers to make well-informed decisions while also providing strong measures to secure personal data."

Gabriela Mercuri, Managing Director of SCOPE Europe, added:

“Having a growing and diverse range of services committing to the principles and requirements of the EU Cloud CoC attests to the uniqueness and effectiveness of this initiative. As SCOPE Europe, we are thrilled to help pave the way with trust and accountability to enable the broad uptake of cloud technologies throughout the EU”.
