SCOPE EuropeEU Cloud CoCNewsPress Release

Brussels, 20 September 2022– The General Assembly is pleased to announce that Figma has joined the EU Cloud CoC list of adherent services and, thus, has officially earned the Code’s data protection compliance mark.

The EU Cloud Code of Conduct, which covers the complete range of cloud service layers, has been consistently increasing transparency and accountability in the cloud sector since its approval last year. The Code enables the upholding of high  data protection standards, allowing European businesses to minimize their risks and fully focus on the multiple benefits of cloud computing.

The growing  number of the Code’s adherent services is essential for the thriving  of Europe’s digital economy since it fosters the development and dissemination  of reliable digital services.  Moreover, by putting forward a tailored pricing scheme that guarantees the accessibility for cloud providers of all sizes, the EU Cloud CoC enables harmonization on large scale.

Figma has completed the EU Cloud CoC assessment process, properly demonstrating its compliance with Article 28 GDPR requirements. It is great to see that Figma, which offers a highly innovative cloud-based design system, has taken this meaningful step to foster trust in cloud services and support the compliance efforts of their interface users. This addition proves the unrivaled scope and influence of the Code in the European privacy landscape and marks a significant step toward robust and aligned GDPR implementation throughout the whole cloud sector.

Commenting on the announcement, Dylan Field, CEO and Co-founder of Figma said:

We’re thrilled that Figma has attained the EU Cloud CoC compliance mark. This designation recognises the work our team has done – and continues to do every day – to meet the highest standards of information security. We’ll continue to set a high bar for security and privacy so that our community can ideate, design and collaborate in the cloud with confidence.”

Managing Director of SCOPE Europe, Jörn Wittmann, added:

It is encouraging to witness the expansion of the EU Cloud CoC Public Register is , especially considering that we have recently celebrated the very first approval anniversary of the Code. In acquiring the Code’s data protection trust mark, Figma’s accomplishment  speaks to its dedication to being open and transparent about how data is processed, which is simply indispensable for boosting cloud service usage across the EU.”
