1. A Growing EU Cloud CoC Community
The EU Cloud CoC community expanded steadily, now encompassing over 1,700 adherent services. The Code has become a benchmark for transparency and risk assessment support across the entire cloud sector (XaaS), with each newly declared service reinforcing the commitment to GDPR compliance and fostering a secure digital ecosystem. Check the Code’s Public Register for an overview of the growing number of compliant services.
2. Strengthening Visibility Through CSA Collaboration
A major highlight of 2024 was the launch of our collaboration with the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), enhancing the EU Cloud CoC’s accessibility and visibility. The CSA community can now adhere to the EU Cloud CoC directly and adherent services assessed under the EU Cloud CoC now display their Compliance Mark in the globally recognized CSA STAR Registry. This initiative empowers users to make well-informed decisions while amplifying the compliance efforts of cloud providers and expanding the reach of GDPR compliance practices.
3. EDPB Strategy and GDPR Report Highlight Codes of Conduct
The importance of codes of conduct was underscored in the EDPB’s Strategy 2024-2027 and the European Commission’s GDPR Report, which recognized their role in harmonizing GDPR implementation. These developments reflect the current state of play and lay a foundation to renew our efforts in the coming years. As new regulatory acts emerge within the data economy—many of which incorporate privacy concerns—SCOPE Europe remains committed to ensuring data protection stays at the core of our work, bridging compliance challenges and supporting businesses in this evolving landscape.
