SRIW’s Recent Happenings
Dear Readers,
as we move further into 2025, we find ourselves reflecting on the evolving digital landscape and the opportunities it presents. In a time when innovation and regulation must go hand in hand, it’s crucial to foster approaches that balance technological progress with responsible governance.
This month, we take a closer look at the role of digitalisation, data protection, and artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping Germany’s future — topics gaining well-deserved attention in the lead-up to the 2025 federal election. At SRIW, we advocate for regulatory models that not only keep pace with innovation but also encourage it through collaboration and flexibility.
We also explore the challenges and opportunities presented by Europe’s GDPR Codes of Conduct (CoCs). With more than 30 approved CoCs under Article 40 GDPR, understanding and implementing these standards is no small task. SRIW remains committed to helping businesses and stakeholders navigate this complex framework with clarity and confidence.

SRIW welcomes the interest shown in future topics in the 2025 federal election campaign, particularly in the areas of digitalisation, data protection and artificial intelligence (AI). While these topics are receiving increasing attention in the political programmes, there is a lack of consistent implementation of modern, flexible and innovation-friendly regulatory approaches. The election programmes offer potential to do justice to a fast-moving digital society through cooperative regulatory approaches. SRIW is calling for greater integration of self-regulation and co-regulation in the political shaping of digitalisation and the economy on the occasion of the Bundestag elections.
