Jörn Wittmann passes on the management of SCOPE Europe to Gabriela Mercuri, after more than six years of successfully managing the company. Addressing the succession, Jörn stated:
When we established SCOPE Europe, we started with an ambitious mission: To equip the market with new tools to foster data- and consumer protection while contributing to an innovation-friendly regulatory environment in Europe at the same time. It was a pleasure to work through the challenges related to this mission with an outstanding team, composed of the most talented international talents one can imagine, and see it come to life. With Gabriela Mercuri, the future of SCOPE Europe is in the best hands.
I wish Gabriela Mercuri, the team and all partners the very best for the future. I sincerely thank the shareholders of SCOPE Europe for the trust given to me over the last years.“
Through a planned and deliberate transition, Gabriela Mercuri embraces the opportunity to guide SCOPE Europe’s team towards continued success:
Our team had the privilege to be led by Jörn, whose efforts forged a human-centric and collaborative work environment that we all deeply cherish. In this spirit, while wishing him the very best in his future endeavours, I reiterate my appreciation and commitment to give continuity to his remarkable work.
When it comes to taking over this new role, it is truly amazing to be a part of something that you believe as much as I believe in SCOPE Europe. However, I must also say that this is only true because I get to work alongside an outstanding and highly talented group of people. With such team, unique projects and partnerships that were built over the years, we move forward with the certainty that SCOPE Europe will keep on positively impacting the European regulatory environment by posing effective solutions and fostering the necessary trust in the digital economy.”
Reacting to the change in management also at SCOPE Europe’s primary Selbstregulierung Informationswirtschaft e.V. (SRIW), Claus Ulmer, Global Data Privacy Officer at Deutsche Telecom Group and Chairman of SRIW’s executive board stated:
We would like to thank Jörn Wittmann for his extraordinary commitment to SRIW and SCOPE Europe, through which he has made not only the association itself, but also the main focus areas, such as the EU Cloud Code of Conduct and the Geodata Codex (ger.: Geodatenkodex), into success stories. At the same time, with Frank Ingenrieth for the SRIW and Gabriela Mercuri for SCOPE Europe, we have succeeded in finding two very knowledgeable and well-connected successors who have already played a significant role in the activities of the SRIW and SCOPE Europe to date. The board is looking forward to the cooperation and wishes Mr. Ingenrieth and Ms. Mercuri much success in their new tasks and challenges.”
